PNG Air and Lloyd’s Metal & Energy deliver emergency food aid relief flights to cyclone-affected communities in Buka bring vital supplies – and renewed hope

PNG Air recently partnered with Lloyd’s Metal & Energy to deliver essential food supplies to communities impacted by the cyclone in Buka—a powerful reminder that even in the darkest moments, hope can take flight.

In the aftermath of the disaster, many families faced severe uncertainty as access to everyday essentials became increasingly difficult. PNG Air mobilised rapidly, coordinating relief flights to ensure life-saving food supplies reached affected residents quickly, safely, and with the utmost care.

For the people of Buka, the arrival of PNG Air’s aircraft represented a tangible sign that they had not been forgotten.

“When disaster strikes, PNG Air’s responsibility doesn’t end at the cargo hold. It extends to every community we serve across PNG.

Partnering with Lloyd’s Metal & Energy and Mr. Hulala Tokome M.D of Puma Energy and son of Bougainville, PNG Air delivered food to the people of Buka.

This was not just a logistical mission – it was a deeply human one. We are proud to be a lifeline for Papua New Guinea, and we will always show up when it matters most.” Said Brian Fraser, Chief Executive Officer, PNG Air.

The relief operation underscores PNG Air’s broader role as more than a transportation provider. Across Papua New Guinea – from urban centres to remote communities – the airline is proud to connect people to their families, services, and build economic strength.

Relief supplies have been delivered, and PNG Air reports that the response from the Buka community has been one of profound gratitude. The airline says it remains ready to assist with any further needs as recovery efforts continue in the affected region.
