5 May 2026 – Nadi, Fiji: Fiji Airways has reaffirmed its commitment to community wellbeing through the donation of essential medical equipment to the Nadi Hospital, supporting maternal and newborn care services in the Western Division, ahead of Mother’s Day.
As Fiji’s national airline, Fiji Airways recognises the important role Nadi Hospital plays in caring for its people, including many members of the Fiji Airways Vuvale and their families.
Fiji Airways last week officially handed over the equipment to the Nadi Hospital Board of Visitors, reinforcing its commitment to making a meaningful impact beyond aviation and supporting the dedicated doctors, midwives, and nurses at the Nadi Maternity Unit and across the hospital.
The donation includes vital signs monitors, cardiotocography and ECG machines, foetal dopplers, neonatal weighing scales, and point-of-care diagnostic sets. These will strengthen the Maternity Unit and hospital’s ability to provide high-quality, timely, and compassionate care to expectant mothers, newborns, and the wider community.
The Maternity Unit supports approximately 1,000 births per year, and this equipment will directly support mothers and newborns, as well as the wider community seeking maternal and newborn healthcare at Nadi Hospital.
Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Paul Scurrah, said the initiative reflects the airline’s ongoing commitment to making a meaningful difference beyond aviation.
“Fiji Airways is proud to support Nadi Hospital and the dedicated healthcare professionals who care for our communities every day. As we approach Mother’s Day, this contribution is about strengthening essential services and ensuring mothers and newborns receive the care they need at such an important time in their lives.”
“We sincerely appreciate this generous contribution to Nadi Hospital’s Maternity Unit and thank Fiji Airways. This essential equipment will significantly strengthen our capacity to provide safe, timely and high-quality care for mothers and newborns. We value this partnership and the shared commitment to the health and wellbeing of our communities.
The equipment will help with better and more accurate antenatal monitoring, especially for women in labour, enabling midwives and doctors to make timely decisions. The infusion pumps will assist in the accurate administration of medication, while the point-of-care diagnostics can be easily deployed across other areas of the hospital as needed,” said Dr Amos, Sub-Divisional Medical Officer - Nadi, Ministry of Health & Medical Services, Fiji.
Nadi Hospital continues to play a critical role in providing maternal and general healthcare services to communities across the Western Division, including many Fiji Airways employees and their families.
This contribution comes as Fiji prepares to celebrate Mother’s Day, recognising the vital role of mothers in the community and the importance of quality maternal care.
Fiji Airways extends its sincere gratitude to the healthcare professionals at Nadi Hospital for their continued dedication to maternal and neonatal care. This contribution reflects the airline’s broader commitment to community partnerships and supporting the wellbeing of the people and communities it serves.
