Bula WSI! Fiji Airways announces direct flights to Western Sydney International Airport

Three flights a week will take off from 19 March 2027, opening up a new direct route between Fiji and Australia

FIJI Airways has announced a major expansion of its Australian network with the launch of new direct flights between Nadi, Fiji (NAN) and Western Sydney International Airport (WSI), with introductory fares on sale now ahead of the inaugural service on Friday, 19 March 2027.

The announcement comes as Fiji has never been more popular with Australian travellers. Fiji has just broken the one million visitor mark for a 12-month period for the first time in its history, with the destination also posting its highest-ever monthly arrivals in July – underscoring just how strong demand has become and making this the ideal time to add a new, direct link between Fiji and Western Sydney.

Scheduled to operate three times per week on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays with the modern Boeing 737 MAX 8, the new service will give Fijians an additional direct connection between the two nations, driving more tourism to Fiji.

Fiji Airways is the first international carrier to announce services between Fiji and Western Sydney International, adding more than 53,000 seats annually between the two destinations.

Fiji Airways Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Paul Scurrah, said the new Nadi - Western Sydney route is a natural next step for Fiji Airways. “It is one of the fastest-growing regions in New South Wales, and a direct route there means easier, more affordable access for Australians looking to holiday in Fiji - which means more visitors, more jobs and more opportunities for our tourism industry. It's also home to one of the largest Fijian communities outside Fiji, so this route is about more than just tourism - it's about making it easier for our people to stay connected to family and friends, and for Fiji to keep growing as a destination the world wants to visit.”

The schedule is ideally timed to facilitate long weekend getaways from both Sydney and Fiji, complementing Fiji Airways existing double-daily services between Nadi and Kingsford Smith Airport. Following the launch of WSI, Fiji Airways will fly up to three times daily between Fiji and the Greater Sydney region, providing a greater choice of flight times than any other carrier. The early evening departure from, and early morning arrival of the flight into, Nadi allows for seamless connections within Fiji, as well as Tonga, Samoa and other destinations across our wider network.

“Australia is our largest source market, and this new direct service further strengthens connectivity, creating new opportunities for tourism, trade and business travel while making Fiji more accessible than ever.”

Western Sydney Airport CEO Simon Hickey says, “We’re excited to have Fiji Airways join Western Sydney International as the countdown continues to welcome our inaugural passengers in less than 60 days’ time. Western Sydney is one of the most diverse and rapidly growing regions in the nation, which includes more than 70 per cent of our global city’s Fijian population. We’re delighted to be delivering a new, seamless service for them to connect with family and friends, while also giving tourists more choice and flexibility to visit Fiji and explore everything the warm, welcoming leisure destination has to offer.”

Western Sydney becomes Fiji Airways' newest Australian destination, giving the airline a strong competitive advantage in meeting the region's accelerating travel demand.

To celebrate the launch, Fiji Airways is offering special introductory return fares from Fiji to Western Sydney starting from just $899 FJD, available until 23 September. Fares can be booked at FijiAirways.com or through participating travel agents. Sale fares apply to select travel dates and are available until sold out. Terms and conditions apply,

Fiji Airways looks forward to welcoming more travellers onboard from March 2027, giving increased access to Fiji's warmth, culture and hospitality - and giving Fiji's tourism industry a valuable new source of visitors from one of Sydney's fastest-growing regions.
